Our History

Established in February 2015, Optimum Fire & Security initially emerged as a side venture, seizing subcontracting opportunities that gradually expanded beyond expectations. Over the course of two years, the company transitioned from providing supplementary labor to developing its own bespoke designs. This pivotal moment prompted Richard “DJ” Oates to depart from his full-time employment, dedicating his focus to Optimum’s growth. During this transition, Joe Barber assumed the role of Vice President, while Brian Lessard spearheaded the federal division, ensuring the smooth functioning of day-to-day operations. By 2022, Optimum Fire & Security experienced exponential growth, necessitating a restructuring of its organizational framework. Joe Barber ascended to the position of CEO, while DJ Oates transitioned into the role of Visionary and Founder, steering the company towards its envisioned future.
